Varca
Beach
One of the most beautiful beaches in the region, the Varca Beach is situated in Benaulim in South Goa. The picture perfect Varca beach is unique, pristine and un-crowded, preferred by those who want to spend time in the quiet environs away from the crowd. With the longest stretch of unpolluted waters, Varca Beach is one of the famous tourist destinations in the beach capital of India. Its palm fringed serene surroundings are ideal for dolphin watching, sunbathing and boating.
Churches
Goa is known for its churches, which are built in the Portuguese, European and Indo-European style of architecture. The churches of Goa are monuments of stone and are of great interest to the historian, the archaeologist, the student of art & architecture and the tourist. The magnificent 16th century Portuguese colony, once known as "Goa Dourada" (Golden Goa) rivaled the European cities in splendor and wealth. Today some of the grandeur can be witnessed in the imposing churches, convents and monasteries that remain.
Carnival
Carnival in Goa is a three day, fun-filled celebration before Ash Wednesday - the beginning of Lent which was once a dreary season of penance and abstinence that is observed 40 days preceding Easter Sunday. The three days Carnival is all about dance, music, food and drink. Apart from music and dance, street plays are performed before an enthusiastic and responsive audience.
